Today, we are honored to welcome back one of Roger Rowe School’s most accomplished alumni—CoCo Vandeweghe.
Growing up right here in Rancho Santa Fe, CoCo once walked the same hallways and sat in the same classrooms as the students here today. What began on local tennis courts quickly grew into a journey that would take her to the largest stadiums in the world, competing on tennis’s biggest stages and against the sport’s greatest legends.
Turning professional as a teenager, CoCo rose to the top ten in the world, reaching a career-high singles ranking of No. 9 globally, a feat achieved by only a select few athletes worldwide. She became a Grand Slam semifinalist at both the Australian Open and the US Open, a multiple-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist, a 2016 Olympian in Rio, and a WTA singles champion, earning international recognition for her powerful game and fearless competitiveness.
On top of her singles success, CoCo also captured a US Open doubles championship, adding a Grand Slam title to her résumé, and proudly represented the United States in international competition, helping lead Team USA to a Fed Cup championship. Her matches were broadcast around the globe, her name featured on center courts, and her career followed by millions of fans.
Today, CoCo returns not just as a world-class athlete, but as a powerful example of what can happen when talent, discipline, and belief are nurtured from a young age—starting right here at Roger Rowe School.
Welcome international tennis star and Roger Rowe alumna, CoCo Vandeweghe!
